Secret Garden Tour of La Jolla
Secret Garden Tour of La Jolla
Each spring, the La Jolla Historical Society arranges for the public to go behind the scenes of La Jolla’s most spectacular residential gardens. The Secret Garden Tour of La Jolla includes a variety of gardens. They are both large and small, with various landscaping styles. The homes are revealed on the day, only in the tour booklet. Each home will have live music, table displays and local artist renderings. In fact, the Deal Me In Today headquarters was featured in a prior tour.

The tour generates important financial support for the La Jolla Historical Society, so know that your ticket fee goes toward preserving unique collections, educational programs and other initiatives to preserve La Jolla’s special character.

If you are looking to spruce up your yard or to spend a day out in our gorgeous weather among stunning landscapes, this tour is for you.

I'm looking for inspiration for my own yard...we are thinking of replacing our lawn with ground cover, and I am creating a lovely little children's garden, complete with bridge, bench, stump seats, and birdbath.

Only 3 shopping days left until Mother's Day. Do you have a gift yet? Are you dreading going to the mall? Have no fear, we have a few suggestions that can be purchased and printed within minutes, right in the comfort of your own home. The best part is that these gift ideas are budget-friendly too.

Mother's Day Facial at Maryam Beauty Salon and Spa

Located on Girard in the Village, Maryam is a popular choice among La Jollans. Give mom a relaxing facial at an upscale spa.

  • For $69 (Reg $145), Mom will love the Deluxe Facial which also includes Maryam's special eye treatment and a little shoulder, neck, scalp, chest and hand massage.
  • For $59 (Reg. $110), a 1-hour Customized Facial will address Mom's specific skin care needs.

Manicure and Pedicure

A bargain $18 (regular price is $29) will get Mom a manicure and spa pedicure in Pacific Beach at Pro Nails Hair & Fashion. Or, for perfect nails that last for two weeks, Mom can choose a shellac manicure, which is the latest and greatest in nail technology. Special polish and a UV light keeps nails from smudging or chipping for around 14 days. This is extraordinarily long lasting for a manicure!

A Relaxing Massage

Treat mom to a long overdue 60 minutes of relaxation at Massage 92037. If you or the kids have been stressing her out lately, the $39 is well worth righting the ship.

Family Photo Shoot

Look around. Has your family taken a professional photo lately? Kids and grandkids grow and change so quickly that Mom will love the option to professionally capture these moments in time. Give her a 1-hour photo shoot with prints and images on CD, hers to keep. It's only $49!

Better yet, combine any of these gift ideas. All can be bought right here on!

Il Covo
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so you may as well enjoy it. Where, you ask? Bring your morning paper to Il Covo Ristorante and Lounge.
Enjoy a cup of fresh coffee (or a mimosa) and a stunning view of the Cove. Splurge on asparagus, brie and prosciutto crepes or lobster Benedict. That strawberry and whipped cream croissant just might be worth a little extra time on the treadmill. Or, opt for healthier choices such as organic farm fresh eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice or hot oatmeal. However you choose to order, you can't go wrong.
For just $15, get $30 worth of food or drink at Il Covo Ristorante & Lounge. See why they are the talk of the town and silver medal winner of the La Jolla Village News Readers Choice Award for Best View.
If you can't make it for breakfast, go for a relaxing dinner overlooking the sunset. Enjoy Tonno Rosso alla Nocciole (yellowfin tuna wrapped in a pine-nut and hazelnut crust) or homemade pasta. Don't forget to sample a specialty cocktail, such as the Mango Madness martini. Do save room for cannoli and other mouth-watering desserts.
Try out La Jolla's newest gem for only $15. We've been and we approve! Buy the deal here.
