RoBowties, the area’s award-winning high school robotics team, has taken everything a step further – it won third place at the tech Challenge World Championships in St. Louis the weekend of April 27. This co-ed group includes kids from La Jolla’s The Bishops School and La Jolla High School, some of whom have been studying together since fifth grade. The team won the coveted Inspire Award earlier this year and were one of only four teams to advance to a regional competition in Oakland in March. It was also selected to represent San Diego in the 2015 Asia Pacific Invitational in Sydney, Australia, which had many teams from Asia, Australia and the Americas, winning a design award there.
