MISSION BAY HIGH SCHOOL — The last blood drive of the year takes place on Friday, May 10 in the school auditorium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This blood drive will be dedicated to school security guard Charles, who was seriously injured in an automobile accident.

MBHS senior portfolios: Volunteer adults are needed to assist with the senior portfolio presentations on Friday, May 23 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lend your expertise and wisdom to students, while seeing their hard work and dedication to graduate from high school and prepare for college and careers. PACIFIC BEACH ELEMENTARY — PBE’s ELAC families will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Wednesday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. on the blacktop after a minimum-day schedule. This will be a cultural gathering with music and traditional dance.

A “Celebration of Education and Art” is set for Thursday, May 16 at

5 p.m. Get a peek at the campus and admire the students’ academic and artistic work on display.

The school’s annual Variety Show takes place Friday, May 24 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. This is a showcase of talented students. Tickets are available in the front office the week before the show and at the door the night of the show. Proceeds benefit the school. For more information, email


FRIENDS OF PACIFIC BEACH SECONDARY SCHOOLS (FOPBSS) — The FOPBSS will meet Wednesday, May 22 6 p.m. at the Schoettle home,

4906 Everts St. (northwest corner of Beryl Street). Members will wrap up the year’s activities and celebrate accomplishments. Refreshments will be served. 


MBHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION — The Seaside Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mission Bay High School in the Grand Avenue student parking lot. Enjoy food, artisans, produce, music and more, with 100 percent of the profits benefiting MBHS.
