According to UCSD's Rand Steiger, "It's good for the community as well because there aren't very many good venues for music in San Diego."
Well, we're working on that right here on the Point, too! I'd like to encourage other Point Lomans to support community music venues as Mr. Prebys has, beginning with the proposed music center at Point Loma High School (PLHS). Like UCSD, it is our goal to take our students out of the basement (or in our case, an overcrowded, unsafely situated classroom) and place them in a state-of-the-art music center that will be the culmination of their K-12 music education. But we need our alumni and friends to help!
Music changes lives and we know it helps keep kids in school. The music center will provide PLHS with the space to give more kids a chance to play music and stay engaged. To help, visit http://www.plhsfaa.org/pp_musiccenter.html. For more information, Google "PLHS Music Center."
