The night manager at the Von's grocery store, at 1702 Garnet Ave., was walking back to the main store after closing up the Von's gas station, located in the parking lot across the street about 11 p.m. on July 1. The manager had a handi-talkie radio, a set of keys and paperwork in a black accordion folder.

The manager was approached from behind by a male suspect. The suspect demanded the manager hand over the money bag. The manager turned around and saw a male brandishing a black handgun. The suspect took the above listed items from the manager. The suspect then ran to a waiting two-door, silver Nissan sedan. The suspect got into the passenger's seat and the vehicle fled in a westbound direction on Garnet Avenue.

The suspect was described as a male in his early 30s, 5-feet 8-inches tall and 170 pounds. The male had a slight beard and was wearing a black jacket. No cash was taken by the suspect. SDPD robbery detectives responded to the scene and are handling the investigation.

Anyone with information related to the above incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
