A former Pointer football standout will be playing in the upcoming Rose Bowl.

Jake Wambaugh is concluding his senior season at University of Washington, and with the Huskies' 10-3 victory over Utah State Nov. 30, his team won the Pac 12 championship and a berth in the New Year's Day classic.

Standing 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighing 224 pounds, Wambaugh is a linebacker who wears jersey number 53 for the Huskies.

Wambaugh, a member of the Pointer Class of 2013, has played the past four seasons after redshirting as a freshman in 2014.

During his college career, Wambaugh has registered seven tackles and 14 assists while playing in 39 games, including all games as a junior and senior.

As a senior at PLHS, Wambaugh was a two-way standout, recording 40 tackles and 11.5 sacks on defense while catching 15 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns on offense. He was named to the first team All-Western League defensive unit.

The 105th edition of the Rose Bowl will be played in Pasadena at 2 p.m. on Jan. 1. The Huskies' opponent will be Big Ten Conference champion Ohio State. The game will be televised on ESPN.
