CLUSTERING WITH SDUSD — The La Jolla Cluster Association will host a discussion on a clusterwide partnership agreement with San Diego Unified School District on Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Muirlands Middle School, 1056 Nautilus St. The agreement focuses on teachers and principals seeking more local control over public schools.
FETE CHINESE NEW YEAR — The San Diego Chinese Academy, located on the campus of La Jolla Country Day School, is celebrating the Chinese New Year — along with the school’s 25th anniversary — on Feb. 24 from 1:45 to 4:30 p.m. The celebration will include a festive “Lion Dance,” class performances, a Chinese Sichuan opera, cultural activities, food and games. PHOTO OP — Students from La Jolla Elementary School will host a photo booth at the Children’s Pool on March 3 from 1 to 3 p.m., where visitors can have their photos taken as a mermaid or surfer for a suggested minimum donation of $5. All proceeds from the photo booth will benefit the Beautification of Coast Boulevard improvement plan.
CLOTHES FOR CHANGE — La Jolla High School seniors Miranda Ciesol and Arden Kreuzer are coordinating a clothing collection at LJHS from Feb. 19-22. Ciesol and Kreuzer serve on the board of directors of My Girlfriend’s Closet, a nonprofit that aims to improve the lives of young women between 13-22 who are in foster care, homeless or otherwise disadvantaged.
