True wellness isn't measured in physical excellence alone – spiritual, mental, vocational, social and emotional components weigh in the balance too. Each of those elements takes on a different importance as a person's age and life experience advances.

Wednesday, May 28, is National Senior Health and Fitness Day, and The Patrician senior living center is mounting an “obstacle course” around the challenges facing seniors as they strive for their best. Exercises and stretches are on the bill at 11 a.m. Activities at The Patrician are designed around all wellness factors; meanwhile, Wednesday's event is part of the International Council on Active Aging's Changing the Way We Age campaign, designed to shift the way society perceives aging.

The Patrician, located at 4025 Pulitzer Place, southeast of Westfield UTC, is a Kisco Senior Living community. Kisco Senior Living, headquartered in Carlsbad, operates 20 senior living centers in five states.
