Authorities believe they have recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing Aug. 30 near Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach as he swam with a friend.

The body is believed to be that of Brian Wilson, 23, of Ramona, who was reported missing around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30 after becoming separated from a companion off the foot of Santa Cruz Avenue. Coast Guard cutter crews searched for Wilson through the night and were joined at daybreak Aug. 31 by a helicopter and a response boat. The body was found the evening of Aug. 31 amid some rocks.

The medical examiner's office has scheduled an autopsy, but Wilson's friends reportedly said that the body appears to be his.
