Bicyclist seriously injured on Mission Bay Drive

A 51-year-old male bicyclist was attempting to cross 4300 Mission Bay Drive, eastbound, with no crosswalk or intersection on Sunday, Oct. 4. The bicyclist was not wearing safety equipment.

A 36-year-old male motorist was travelling northbound off I-5 into 4300 Mission Bay Drive. The motorist struck the bicyclist causing serious injury.

Injuries include fractured cervical vertebra and multiple fractures to his left humerus. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening. Intoxication is not a suspected factor in the collision. Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
