The 58th annual La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival will kick off Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m., to be followed by the ceremonial lighting of the community Christmas tree in front of La Jolla Rec Center at 4:30 p.m., at 615 Prospect St.

The parade, which commences at the corner of Girard Avenue and Kline Street, includes marching bands, floats, equestrian units, vintage automobiles and an appearance by Santa Claus.

The theme for this year's parade is "Spirit of Christmas - Peace on Earth."

This is the community’s annual year-end celebration and holiday fair. It is not to be confused with attempts by a competing group to host a second, unrelated parade celebrating unity and diversity on the following weekend in La Jolla.
