A skateboarder was struck by a car while attempting to cross a street in Pacific Beach against a traffic signal and was hospitalized in grave condition, authorities said July 19.

The 22-year-old victim rode into the path of a turning Toyota Prius at the intersection of Ingraham and Felspar streets shortly after 7 p.m. July 17, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Delimitros said the skateboarder suffered a “non survivable head injury.” The victim’s name was not immediately available.
