Santa Clara Recreation Center's two flag football teams both advanced to the City-Wide Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 10. The 12U team made it as far as the championship game to finish as the third-best flag football team in San Diego.

The 10U team made it all the way to the Super Bowl, losing to Linda Vista, but earning the right to be ranked as the second best team in the region.

The teams are made up of players from Pacific Beach Middle, Pacific Beach Elementary, and Kate Sessions Elementary, and were coached by Lee Silber, Tim Gardner, Stephen Tarbell, Tom Norton, and Bill Horton. Both teams finished the season with 10-5 records.

In all my years of coaching, this was the most amazing group of kids (25 players between two teams) because they played as a team. Everyone contributed to our winning ways.
