Catherine Jolley, the former Pacific Beach Town Council president, was named this year’s Citizen of the Year for Pacific Beach. Jolley received the honor for the continued support she has provided and for the season-opening breakfast she organized for all lifeguard divisions together.

Every 10 years, the lifeguards hold a division meeting before the summer season begins. Jolley organized an opening breakfast for this year’s lifeguard meeting and received a lot of donations for the event. For example, each lifeguard received a gift bag.

“I think it has been an honor to work with the lifeguards and to be a part of the lifeguard organization. They have a beautiful culture and camaraderie,” Jolley said.

Jolley works with the Pacific Beach Town Council as well as the San Diego Police Department Northern Division Captain Advisory Board. She is also teaching in El Cajon.

Jolley thinks Pacific Beach is the best place to live in San Diego. “It is a good place raise your family and in the last few years the community has really come together,” she said.

What she likes the best about Pacific Beach are the people who live in the community and she thinks there is a lot of amazing volunteer organizations doing great things in PB.

“I don’t do this work to get awards, I do this because I think it is necessary,” Jolley said.
