The award was presented during the sanitation industry’s annual 2018 WasteExpo in Las Vegas. Bronner is a 29-year veteran of the City’s Environmental Services Department (ESD), Collections Services Division.
“My sincere congratulations to Mr. Bronner on this incredible honor,” said San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer. “He represents this City’s commitment to excellence in customer service and he sets an example for all of us to follow. We appreciate his dedication to our City and its residents.”
The Driver of the Year award was presented to Bronner during the NWRA’s annual Awards Breakfast. Bronner previously finished as a semi-finalist in 2004. Other awards presented at this event included Operator of the Year, Hall of Fame, Distinguished Service, Member of the Year and the Chapter Leadership Award.
Bronner was recognized for his many contributions to his job, including a notable record of zero traffic accidents over the span of his career. He joined the City’s ESD on April 17, 1989 and has driven a variety of trucks, including one of the City’s new Compressed Natural Gas vehicles. Over the years, Bronner has earned recognition by the City for his dedication and commitment to customer service.
“The City is proud of Mr. Bronner’s selection as National Driver of the Year as his nearly 30-year record of zero accidents or injuries on the job symbolizes the Environmental Services Department‘s focus on safety first, second and always,” said Collections Services Division deputy director Johnnie Perkins.
