SURF RIDER PIZZA CO. CELEBRATES 9TH ANNIVERSARY 

To celebrate its 9th anniversary, Surf Rider Pizza Co. is offering nine days of specials from Aug. 1-9 at all four of its locations: Ocean Beach, Crown Point, Mission Beach, and La Mesa. Some of the daily specials include $3 off any stromboli, $4 off any specialty pies, and free delivery all day. MISSION POINT BEACH AND JETTY COMMUNITY CLEANUP 

House of Scuba will host its eighth-annual Beach & Jetty Cleanup at Mission Point Park from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Aug. 10 at Mission Point Park, 2600 Bayside Lane. A BBQ and raffle provided by House of Scuba will follow the cleanup to celebrate. Those not diving are encouraged to take part by clean up trash as they walk the beach, snorkel or kayak. FATHER JOE VILLAGES’ HOST WALK TO END HOMELESSNESS 

Father Joe’s Villages will host its annual A Short Walk Home — San Diego’s only walk to end homelessness — from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Aug. 3 at Spanish Landing Park 3900 N Harbor Dr. The goal of this free event is to raise $100,000 for Father Joe’s Villages emergency solutions like shelter, meals and healthcare and programs like vocational training, therapeutic childcare, substance use disorder treatment, supportive housing and other vital services. GIANNI BUONOMO VINTNERS TO HOTS INAUGURAL BLAUFRANKISCH CELEBRATION 

San Diego winery Gianni Buonomo Vintners is hosting the inaugural Blaufränkisch Appreciation Day Party from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Aug. 10 at 4836 Newport Ave. The evening will feature the release of Gianni Buonomo’s 2015 Blaufränkisch with a casual three-course dinner prepared by Michelin-trained Chef Max Farina, owner of Zafferano Catering. The dinner features Scarola Brasata (braised escargole salad), Fettuccine ai Funghi (handmade pasta with crimini cream sauce) and Pollo in Porchetta (slow roasted chicken with roasted potato). POINT LOMA GARDEN CLUB ANNOUNCES ITS 2019-20 PROGRAMS

In its 2019-20 season, the Point Loma Garden Club will hold its meetings at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 11, April 8, and May 13 at Portuguese Hall, 2818 Avenida de Portugal. THE LODGE AT TORREY PINES TO HOST ARTISAN TABLE GUEST CHEF

The Lodge at Torrey Pines will host a Artisan Table Guest Chef featuring Chef Timothy Kolanko from 7-9 p.m., Aug. 8. Chef Timothy Kolanko was a member of The Lodge’s original culinary team in 2002 and he and Executive Chef Jeff Jackson will collaborate yet again to deliver an exquisite, four-course communal meal including dishes like Meade Roasted Quail, Zucchini and Caviar Patina and Ben Rye “Passum” Cheesecake. FOUR-PART ART HISTORY LECTURE SERIES ON SURREALISM

The Athenaeum Music and Arts Library will present a four-part lecture series titled “Surrealist Art and its Precursors” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 1, 8, 15, and 22 in the Joan & Irwin Jacobs Music Room, 1008 Wall St., La Jolla. Cornelia Feye will explore influential Surrealist artists and the history and trajectory of the French art movement. THE 1944 SOCIAL CLUB CELEBRATES THOSE BORN IN 1944  

The 1944 Club will host a 75th birthday celebration for those born in 1944 from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Admiral Baker Field, 2400 Admiral Baker Road at the east end of Tierrasanta. This birthday party will include a dinner buffet, dancing, and music provided by San Diego’s premiere band, Sundance. The event is open to anyone over the age of 18, whether or not you are celebrating your 75th year. Tickets are $70 per person.
