SAN DIEGO BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION 2019 STEP & SUPPORT WALK/FUN RUN

The San Diego Brain Tumor Foundation will hold its 9th annual Step & Support Walk/Fun Run, at 9 a.m., Oct. 19 at 10290 Campus Point Athletic Field in La Jolla. This event is open to all and held to raise funds as well as awareness for San Diego’s pediatric and adult brain tumor patients and their families. 28TH ANNUAL BOOTLEGGERS BALL

San Diego nonprofit Fresh Start Surgical Gifts will host its 28th annual gala ‘Bootleggers Ball’ on at 6 p.m., Oct. 19 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, 3777 La Jolla Village Drive. The gala will feature a cocktail reception, a live/silent auction, dinner, live music by The Heroes, and casino table games. Dr. Greg Ostrow, director of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley, and his wife, Dr. Stacy Ostrow, will serve as the event’s honorary chairs. The gala will celebrate Fresh Start’s commitment to providing free-of-cost reconstructive surgery and transforming the lives of infants, children and teens with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse, or disease.
