On Saturday, April 3, SanDiego350 will hold Build Back Fossil Free – an event that includes an “oil spill” art installation and morning beach clean-up near 3021 Mission Blvd. parking lot at Mission Beach from 9-11 a.m., followed by a countywide virtual rally from 1-2 p.m.

Activists will call on local and state officials to phase out fossil fuels in the process of economic recovery from COVID-19. As President Biden prepares to advance his infrastructure package, the event is designed to hold him accountable for climate action promises.

Activists will demand that Biden stops the Line 3 and Dakota Access Pipelines and promote an equitable recovery that prioritizes climate justice, renewable energy, sustainable transit infrastructure, and good-paying union jobs.

Activists will also call on state legislators and Gov. Newsom to pass Senate Bill 467, which would end extreme fossil fuel extraction in California and create safety buffers to protect the health of BIPOC and working-class communities living near drilling sites.
