Red Pearl Kitchen and 944 magazine presented "Kitchen Bling" on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 440 J Street in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The activities began at noon and included a live fashion shoot and social hour with hosted "Blingtinis" and "Dim Sum Hors D'oeuvres." The festivities wrapped up with a runway show featuring local designers and boutiques, which was organized by Carly Harrill from 944.

The hot fashions were from Rumor, Jep, Backstage Clothing and Dera Kayna Boutique.

Kristen Bevgguist was the stylist and Gila Rut Salon was the hair stylist. Rachel Stacks, The Vinyl Authority, provided the tunes.

This entertaining show covered fashions from one end of the spectrum to the other. Backstage Clothing has styles that can dress you to look like a rockstar, Rumor carries fashions that are hot and now, JEP has fashion forward classic designs and Dera Kayna Boutique is a high-end store with classy gorgeous gowns. The audience was wowed by these must-have fashions.

Exclusively Misook

Designer Misook Doolittle made a personal appearance and greeted her loyal customers with a fashion show at Nordstrom on Oct. 5. Her knits are known for their comfortable elegance. They are 100 percent wrinkle-free garments that are great for traveling. The most remarkable thing about them is that they are washable. These classic and timeless outfits are great for mixing and matching and are interchangeable. The sizes range from extra small to extra large.

One customer, Gretchen Bergman, arrived wearing an eight-year-old Misook ensemble. The outfit looked brand new and demonstrated how well these stylish knits wash and wear. From the latest collection, one of my favorites was a snake print jacket with sequins. In the finale the models came out dressed all in black dresses, skirts and pants accented with rhinestones. These outfits are perfect for the coming holiday season. A drawing was held and two lucky customers received a Misook outfit. G-Star Opens on Fifth

G-Star Raw celebrated their grand opening with 2 Fashion Shows at Osetra Downtown in the Gaslamp Quarter Thursday, Oct. 19. DJ Theron set the mood in this upscale restaurant and nightclub. The models showed off chic street wear starting on the second floor, coming down the staircase and parading up and down the bar. What a terrific way to make an entrance!

This new Gaslamp store opened at 470 Fifth Ave. on Oct. 5, and is owned and operated by downtown residents Alessandro and Carole Minutella. Their philosophy is "Just the Product." This progressive and trendy store has an industrial feel to it. G-Star is denim driven and is known for their detail and treatment of jeans.

The signature piece for G-Star is the Elwood line. This line began in 1996 and was influenced by motorcycle clothing. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, they have introduced a collection called "Elwood 10." Stop by this innovative store and have store managers Silvia Pegoraro and Jimmy Gulzar show you around.
